Battle looms in Kuala Lumpur

Battle No. 3. The Malaysian Chess Festival kicks off with the two-day Merdeka rapid open chess tournament at the MidValley Exhibition Centre and the Cititel MidValley ballroom. Chess is not a game for the faint-hearted. It has its own twists and turns. Do you know how to twist and turn? If not, come to the MidValley and watch 180 players do the twist and turn. It's a battle over two days and there are nine blood-letting rounds.

  1. Hi Quah,

Nice meeting you, last night at My Word Up's 8th anniversary.

I'm confused about your post here. Over which days will the festival take place? If I'm free, I'd love to pop in and have a look at how it's going. No matter how gory it might be.

  2. Hi, Han, Glad to have met up with you for dinner too. I've just managed to get back to Penang and whilst away, I had absolutely no connection to the Net. You can still catch the Malaysian Chess Festival at the Cititel ballroom - that's on the fifth floor of the hotel - until Sunday. This is where we have the GMs and the IMs all competing. Two rounds per day, 9am and 3pm, but I believe Thursday is a rest day for them.
