Penang Bridge expansion project

I was telling Ted the other day that the emergency bays at the Penang Bridge could be pulled apart from the side of the causeway to facilitate its expansion into six lanes. I wonder whether he noticed them from the air when he flew out from the Bayan Lepas international airport last week. I wouldn't have been able to take this photo during rush hour but I had a leisurely drive across the bridge on Sunday morning. Sorry, though, for the washed-out colour. I know the sky looked really horrible.
