Where is the ocean?

This is a very short but deep story. I am still trying to understand it properly. There are other variations of this lesson but I'm reproducing only one here:
"Excuse me," said a very young ocean fish, "you are older than I. Can you tell me where to find this thing called the Ocean?"

"The Ocean?" replied the older fish. "Why, it is the thing you are in now."

"Oh this? But this is water. What I'm seeking is the Ocean," said the disappointed young fish as he swam away to search elsewhere.
It'll be interesting to learn how various people would interpret this story.

  1. A simple analogy is a person missing the wood for the trees.
You don't see the whole picture rather like tunnel vision.
