I'm quite sad that today's youngsters no longer know this popular childhood Hokkien ditty about the 12 animal signs in the Chinese calendar. It sounds dreadful when translated into Mandarin, doesn't it? The translation has totally lost its original allure. There's no more comfort food for the soul as one gets older.
