We do this every year and I've written about it often. On the fifth day of the fifth Chinese lunar month, which coincides with today, we purchase vegetarian glutinous rice dumplings for worship of the home deities. This occasion is known as Goh Guek Chek or Fifth Month Festival. It's also known as the Dumpling Festival, and there's a sad and tragic story that goes with it. Most people have forgotten the tragedy and that's why, it is being celebrated today with joy and ravenous consumption of the dumpings. Click here to read the story.
