It’s an extended Wesak celebration at Nandaka Vihara in Bukit Mertajam this year! The Burmese community is observing Wesak today, even though the actual Wesak Day falls tomorrow. As a happy compromise, the Nandaka Vihara committee decided to stretch the celebrations over two days – today and tomorrow! These photos were taken early this morning, around 6.45am, when I popped in for a quick visit. I’ll be heading back later. Even as preparations for the day’s activities were getting underway, my thoughts drifted to Bhante Neluwe Aranagavesi and the two other Sri Lankan monks who were with us last year for an extended stay but aren’t here this time around. Wherever they are, I send them my warmest wishes for a Happy Wesak. May they be well and happy...
