Surely, this report must rank as one of the most incredible pieces of news that I'm reading today. The mind boggles! It smacks of irresponsibility for the lives of people. It's been reported by Bernama that the Government will only be phasing out the Nuri helicopters "gradually from this year until 2012".
As you know, the Nuri helicopters have been involved in many air crashes recently with losses of lives every time. The latest occurred only last July in Genting Sempah with the death of its six crew members.
Yet, with this track record, the Deputy Defence Minister, Zainal Abidin Zin, said today that the helicopters will not be withdrawn from service asap. My comment: it seems that the Nuri copters will either be phased out or crashed out, whichever is the sooner.
In the meantime, the lives of our air servicemen will remain at constant risk whenever they are ordered to travel in this flying machine.

IF the Nuri is considered to be fit for purpose until 2012, then the PM Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, the DPM / Defence Minister Najib Razak and Deputy Defence Minister, Zainal Abidin Zin, together with all the cabinet ministers and all other ministers and deputy ministers should utilise the remaining Nuri helicopters as their official mode of air transport.
the pilot of the recently crashed nuri was my friend! will they ever do something right????
I so agree with anonymous :D That is a mighty fine idea ...
