Well, it has been a good two years since I attended the Asia Pacific yoyo championship at the Genting indoor theme park with my son. He's still immensely interested in the game but unfortunately, time does not permit him to compete any more. Not this year, anyway.
Just very recently, the 2008 edition of this championship was held in Singapore and we were watching some of the winning performances on YouTube. That's about the closest we could get to the atmosphere of the competition venue and the enthusiasm of the competitors.
Two years has also allowed Singapore's Lim Aik Hwee to grow up. I saw him winning the 4A event (off-string competition) at Genting and he won it again this year on home soil with a very polished performance. It's worth watching:
