Raja Petra freed

I've just heard the good news that Raja Petra Kamaruddin has been ordered to be released from detention under the Internal Security Act by the High Court in Shah Alam. The judge, Syed Ahmad Helmy Syed Ahmad, held that the grounds for his detention by Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar under Section 8 of the ISA did not come within the scope of that section. The judge has ordered Raja Petra to be produced before him at 4pm today so that he could be freed.

This is all very good news BUT... it remains to be seen whether Raja Petra will actually enjoy his freedom or will be re-arrested under some other justification excuse once he emerges from the court house. No thanks. I'll remain a skeptic, if you don't mind, until it's finally over.

UPDATE: I'm pleasantly surprised that everything's still all right at 6pm. He's home with his family. But it's disturbing to read the news. While some said that no further action would be taken on his release, others said the government may appeal the decision. Stupid. This stubborn government just won't admit defeat.
