Let me remind them that it has nothing to do with race or the preference of one language over another. It has all to do with our culture and heritage in Penang, and of course, pragmatism over tourism. Unfortunately, only a person who is a true Penangite can understand what culture and heritage here means. It means taking pride for the place we are living in. It means taking pride for a multi-cultural society that we are all part of. It means taking pride to educate our youth on conserving and appreciating our past. It means taking pride to show off our cultural treasures to people who appreciate them. If blinkered, uncultured fools do not understand or appreciate heritage and do not wish to understand them, then it's best to brand them as petty fools who will continue to be lost in their own wilderness and self-importance until they wake up to the realities of a global village. There's nothing we can do to help them.
In the meantime, the Penang government should proceed full steam ahead with the project and ignore the letter. The minister just doesn't understand it. Shame on him that as an opportunist, he himself is politicising Penang's cultural heritage:
Last Tuesday, Unity, Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal warned the Penang Government not to use language to gain political mileage. He had said the ministry would send a letter of protest against the plan as road signs in multi-languages have no benefit and would disunite the people.
But the Penang government will have to be prepared to face these petty ignoramous fools as they are sure to protest rudely when the signs are up eventually. In fact, the government will have to be prepared too for these fools to take petty action by defacing or destroying the multi-lingual road signs.

Bagi dia BN fellas play politics. After all, in a matter of months, this minister may not be around anymore. I am all for multilingual signs. Who gives a fuck if it's against someone's principles.
