This is six-year-old Mihir Kumar of Ranchi in India, lying on a stretcher while waiting for an operation to remove a five foot-long iron rod which had pierced through his rib cage. Kumar was injured when he fell from the roof of his house on Wednesday while celebrating the Holi festival. The next 72 hours would be crucial to the boy's recovery, said surgeon Meghraj Kundan. Another surgeon, Sandeep Agarwal, said the boy had miraculously escaped major internal injuries.
