After all the hype over the introduction of RON95 petrol in Malaysia and an earlier promise that this grade of petrol would be sold at RM1.75 per litre, the Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism Minister has suddenly announced that the new price from 1 Sep 2009 would be RM1.80 per litre.
The excuse given was that the world oil prices have jumped in recent months. “Actually the price of RON95, if going by world markets, is RM1.89 per litre but the government does not want the people to feel the rise so it had set the price at RM1.80,” Ismail Sabri Yaakob said. You know and I know that that's pure Bullshit. That's going back on a promise because now the Federal government is selling us a lower grade petrol at the same price as the original RON97 petrol.
