General Elections: Observations 5

In case you are wondering about this picture from the Sun, that's the endearing - some say spunky - 89-year-old Maimun Yusof who dared to contest as an Independent candidate in the Kuala Terengganu parliamentary seat. She travelled daily on her trusty bicycle, cycling around to meet people and asking for them to support her at the ballot box. Unfortunately, she was up against the big guns. No way that she was able to create an upset. Although she obtained 685 votes out of 65,112 votes cast, she still lost her deposit. Poor dear! I hope this won't discourage her to try again in five years' time when she is, what? Ninety-four-years-old?
